Rome Restaurant Information
When in Rome do as the Romans do and eat. Choose restaurants filled with locals for the family run restaurant in Rome expirence. Consider restaurants near the touristy Trastevere or the romantic Campo de' Fiori. There is always a lot to see while enjoying the best pizza in the world near the Pantheon or in the Piazza Navona. No Italian meal would be complete with out dessert or "dolci" and gellato is the dessert of choice in Rome. Some of the best gellato is found at the Gelateria alla Scala and the Gelateria della Palma near the Pantheon in Rome. Be sure to try the cinnamon and pistachio flavor.
Some of "the best" restaurants in Rome include the folling as recommended by Frommers, Trip Advisor, and Rick Steves. The best of the best is considered La Pergola in the Cavalieri Hilton Hotel. The best off beat choice is L'Eau Vive which is a restaurant run by a lay sisterhood ministry of Christians from all over the world. The best pizza can be found at Pizzeria Baffetto and two of the best values for the money include Ristorante del Pallaro and Ristorante Il Matriciano which is located near the Vatican.
Romerestaurants are a simple pleasure not to be missed. The food is light on the sauce and light on the cheese unlike americano italian food. The simplicity of the dishes in Roman restaurants is actually an enhancement to the food as each recipe is well balanced so that the flavors complement each other to bring out the most in each ingredient without overpowering one another. And while you are enjoying a dinner at a Rome Bistro or Trattoria, be sure to order a bottle of Italian Chianti to wash it all down.
